10 things to consider before you launch your membership

Launching a membership is a great way to serve more clients, often on a different level, as well as adding a different revenue stream to your business.

But there are a number of important factors you should consider first, and planning is key! Here’s 10 things you should think about as you plan your membership:

  1. When are you looking to launch your membership?

  2. Think about starting to grow your audience that you’ll launch out to e.g. social media, email list

  3. Have a clear idea of who you are targeting, what their problem is and why your membership solves this

  4. Have a clear idea of the success the member will gain from your membership. How do they go from A to B and what are A and B? Measured success and seeing progress means members are happy and want to stay

  5. Price point - what will the membership cost? Will you launch a founding member’s offer which is a special price for those that join when you first open? What will the price go up to after that?

  6. Is your membership available to join at all times or is it just open at certain points in the year?

  7. Where will you host your membership?

    • Will you host the course or ‘core content’ on a website or other platform? Searchie, Kajabi, Teachable are all examples of platforms that can host courses and memberships

    • Where will the community be hosted for people to interact? Will you have a FB group? These communities can be very important for building community. It’s one reason people stay in memberships

  8. Consider what content you’ll offer your members aside from your core content e.g. regular lives, guest speakers, regular meals plans, new recipes, challenges etc

  9. Think about loyalty and ways to retain your members

  10. Promoting your membership. How will you promote it when you launch but also moving forwards?

    • Social media

    • Paid advertising, building a funnel

    • Email marketing

    • Referrals
