Beat social media content overwhelm!

Creating content can be time consuming. And one of the worst things is being out of ideas.  But there are a few things you can do to beat the overwhelm of creating content.

Beat social media content overwhelm
  1. Make sure you have a Social Media Strategy in place. That way you can ensure posts are being driven from a high level strategic focus and you stay on track with your goals.

Your strategy will include:

  • Defining your target customer

  • Defining your objectives

  • Defining your brand tone of voice

  • Deciding which platforms to use

  • Your content strategy - what kinds of topics will be talk about and through what types of posts?

  • Your posting strategy - how many times per week will you post

  • Keyword and search terms strategy - social platforms are now like search engines and so getting your keywords right will help you be discovered

  • Setting KPI’s for growth

2. Once you have your strategy in place, you can use a content calendar to plot out what posts you’ll publish day to day. This calendar will contain much more granular information such as caption, type of post, links and CTA. I have a separate content ideas tab in my content calendar which I use for ideas that I get from FAQ’s and client conversations as well as other sources of inspiration.

3. Regularly deep dive into the problems and pain-points your ideal clients have. What questions do you often get asked from clients? Start a document and gather them all in one place so you can refer back to when you’re creating posts.

4. A content scheduling tool is a lifesaver/game changer if you are busy and don’t always have time to post from the app. It’s also great if you’re not super organised. You can schedule ahead weeks and months at a time and knowing you have posts in place for busy periods beats the overwhelm. I like Later.

You can also schedule in app on TikTok and Instagram and use Meta Business Suite too.

5. Setting a day aside each week or part of a day will help you cut out time just for your business and the content you need to post. You can then batch create some content for scheduling. If I know I’ve set time aside, I’m definitely more productive

Other aspects which are important to consider are:

Avoiding perfectionism. It’s easy for many of us to not want to post something that we aren’t completely happy with and it can get in the way of growth!

What you might think is a rubbish video could be really helpful for someone. It’s also important to get into the habit of testing things. We learn a lot from posting more.

Don’t compare yourself to others and their content. Like perfectionism, comparing yourself to other people can hinder content production!
